Beekeeping Courses

The 2006 courses of preparation for the FIBKA Preliminary examination took place in five centres, the Greenmount and Enniskillen campuses of CAFRE plus one in Comber, Moira and Ballymena between January and May. Fifty five candidates sat and passed the preliminary examination in May 2006.

The classes for the intermediate examination (scientific paper) were held fortnightly on the Greenmount campus from October 05 till April 06. Fifteen candidates sat the examination and all passed.  Two candidates passed the senior microscopy examination and one candidate passed both the senior scientific and senior practical papers at Gormanston in July06. .

UBKA congratulates all members of the classes on their continued interest in the craft of bee-keeping and urges all who passed their preliminary examination to go further and attend this winter’s intermediate class which  is being held at Greenmount and starts on 5th October.The preliminary classes are scheduled to begin in January 2007.

A new series of Preliminary classes suitable for beginners to beekeeping, or those contemplating taking up the craft, will be held at centres throughout Northern Ireland weekly from February till May 2007.
