Introducing .... Robert McCreery |
 |
|
UBKA Treasurer
Robert is a past Chairman and committee member of Dromore and District Beekeepers’ Association. He is one of the youngest office bearers in UBKA so, with a young family, a large garden, over a dozen colonies of bees and other outside interests one wonders how he copes with a day job which is as an energy efficiency engineer with the Southern Education Board.
He has developed simple systems of beekeeping which suit his lifestyle. He rears queens, controls swarming, migrates to the Apple orchards in Spring, and to the Mournes in Summer. He is a very successful exhibitor of honey, having successes as far away as Tipperary. His daughter Lynn is also very keen on exhibiting honey.
Robert attended Bob Shaw’s Preliminary Beekeeping class at Greenmount before commencing beekeeping but has not found time to continue his studies. He does read extensively and keeps himself up to date in his beekeeping.
