Leader II funding has helped unite the Beekeeping Associations within Northern Ireland, with a representative director appointed from each Association.

The finance was divided equally among the nine Associations and spread over four different projects:

1.    To promote professionalism amongst beekeepers

2.    To increase honey production

3.    To increase public awareness of bees and beekeeping; and

4.    To provide a platform to progress to greater heights.

We have achieved great progress as a result of the funding.

Leader II finance was used to help set up our apiary, new hives were bought, better honey production has been achieved through more efficient and hygienic extracting and associated equipment, and part of the funding has been used on training - to educate us all to become better beekeepers.
