BEE STOCKS

Since the Apiary opened in May 1999 we have been troubled by cross bees.

Therefore, this has prompted us into action.  We are currently working on developing the local strain of black bee, and over the course of the next few seasons will be culling and selecting for among other traits, good temper, supercedure and disease resistance.  We have high expectations for our Black bees.  This far North, the weather is anything but predictable  (see historical records) and therefore our Black Queens should  be better suited to our unpredictable weather conditions.

Anyway time will tell.  So watch this space and see how we get on.
