| Beekeeping courses: |
A Preliminary Course is held each year on the Enniskillen Campus of CAFRE. This course is suitable for anyone who is interested in
taking up beekeeping or for those who are beekeepers already and would like to know more. The tutor is currently Andrew Elliott Chairman
of the Association and classes are held on Monday evenings, beginning in January. There are eight classroom sessions and two practical
sessions at the hives in Fermanagh Association’s apiary. The preliminary examination is in May. Successful candidates are awarded a
Preliminary Certificate by the Examinations Board of FIBKA. Candidates are also advised on the equipment required and are helped to
obtain bees. In addition, a circle of mentors, more experienced members of the Association, are available to give practical help and
advice when it is needed. FIBKA intermediate course lecturer is Ethel Irvine and classes are held on Tuesday evenings on the Enniskillen
Campus of CAFRE. Twelve classroom sessions are given, with a further two sessions on examination technique for those sitting the practical
examination in May. This course is suitable for those who have obtained the preliminary certificate and have some experience in beekeeping.
